Politically Correct

Branches shiver, the earth rumbles,

The midnight forest is set alight.

Torches gather, the pack follows,

From their hunt she runs tonight.

 

Branches bending, twigs a-snapping,

Two thousand feet thunder the ground.

Their tribal cries wail out behind her-

Animalistic, warring sounds.

 

A thousand monsters, giving chases,

Her panicked gasps suck in the air.

She flees through old and crooked pine trees,

Her eyes just like a frightened hare.

 

On and on the pack advances,

Spread out thickly, through the woods,

Anger raging, Anger rising,

Shouting under darkened hoods.

 

The Footsteps thunder ever closer,

Against a root, she kicks her shoe.

Downs she stumbles, from a-side her,

The tribal cry goes “OOH! OOH! OOH!”

 

She’s fallen, beaten, desperate, fumbling,

They circle her like vicious beasts.

Their crazy eyes all glowing, glaring,

Like starving dogs waiting for a feast.

 

“How dare you say that?! Fuck her! Kill her!”

One screams out from up the front.

Their hollow faces flicker, in the shadows-

Take in the success of their hunt.

 

Her mouth is duct-taped, slaps are raining

From all round, onto her head,

Her only fault, to express opinions-

That went against what others said.

She is clawing, grasping, fumbling,

The monkey cry goes “OOH! OOH! OOH!”

They beat their chests, the pack in closing

Shout “Think what we think! And what we tell you to!”

 

Spitting, Slavering, Drooling, Rabid,

All the menace, and crazy eyes.

Their bloods are up, all sense is vacant,

Under a cold black starless sky.

 

The mud is red, the tribe high-fiving,

Stomp her head under the ground.

Their sticks still beating, they watch her dying.

An owl looks over, but makes no sound.

 

Branches breaking, the ground rumbling,

The tribal cry goes ““OOH! OOH! OOH!”
